Relik Tapas Bar and Lounge

On the second floor of the Commercenter Building at Bonifacio Global City is Relik Tapas Bar and Lounge. Unlike other food outlets that you often find because it is visible and popular, Relik falls under the realm of "best-kept food hideaways".

If your type of decor is the homey-comfy, rustic type, you will take to Relik Tapas. Their cuisine is Spanish-Mediterranean comfort food consisting of modern tapas. Urban and retro designs are found all over. Walls hold vintage items that include wooden tennis rackets, vinyl records and framed pictures from the 50s and 60s. Tasteful antique-like table lamps hang on chains on one side of the restaurant.

There is a private non-smoking room that can be used for executive lunches and meetings.

We were introduced to Relik Tapas' Executive Chef, Chef Benjo Tuason who was trained in Australia.

During the event attended by bloggers, this was what we were served. I did note that their menu contained many healthy choices, which is great for me as I always try to discover the healthier offerings of every restaurant.

One of my favorite soup choices is pumpkin soup and Relik Tapas' Roasted Pumpkin Soup is one of the best and tastiest I have ever tried.

A Spanish menu is not complete without a signature paella and Relik's Mixed Paella is thumbs up goodness. Because of the intricacies of preparing paella, this dish needs to be ordered a day in advance. An order serves 8-10.

Next was Gambas with a Kick, shrimps sauteed in garlic, hot paprika and 2 kinds of chili. This is a bit on the spicy side so that's just an advance warning for those who do not want the spicy kick.

We next tried Mother Ann's Braised Ox-Tail - slow-braised Australian ox-tails served with pomme puree and buttered carrots. The ox-tails were very tender and tasteful, most likely a result of very long simmering time.

And for dessert, I totally recommend you try their Vanilla & Amaretto Panacotta. Panacotta or cooked cream flavored with hints of vanilla and amaretto, and had a berry compote topping. It was served with a soft, sugary biscuit on the side.

Oh, one more thing. You must try their plain water. Most of the restaurants I have gone to serve water with a slice of lemon inside. But at Relik Tapas, their water is spiked with pandan. I just totally loved it. The water still retained its water flavoring, unlike flavored water, and you just tasted that hint of pandan. Very healthy!

The items above are just a sampling of a whole gamut of food choices so it will take more than just one trip to try them all!

Next time you're in the Fort, seek out Relik Tapas. There's ample parking inside the building itself with over 90 parking slots. It's a great place to be during lunch for office people and also a watering hole at night for those who want to party away.
